| Abstract/Sumar | An Example of Contemporary West-Pontic Multiethnic Understanding For Romanians, 2018 is the year that marks both the Centenary of the Great Union from Alba Iulia and 140 years since Dobrogea's union with the Romanian State, following the Independence War of 1877-1878. This year also marks the commemoration of 2,000 years since the death of the Latin poet Publius Ovidius Naso, after his relegation at Tomis (Constantza) by Emperor Augustus. Dobrogea’s destiny and role, with Tulcea and Constantza counties, are closely connected to the Danube and the Black Sea and implicitly to fluvial, maritime and navigation activities. Dobrogea is included in the Southeast Development Region of Romania, with parts of Moldova and Muntenia, comprising Brăila, Buzău, Constantza, Galaţi, Tulcea and Vrancea counties. This blessed south-eastem province is essentially a praiseworthy realm and example of contemporary west-Pontic multiethnic understanding among 18 naţional minorities who live, work and collaborate peacefully and fruitfully. This volume aims to add to the previous publications some aspects regarding the progress in various fields of human activity and knowledge in Dobrogea, such as mathematics, astronomy, meteorology, hydrology, geomorphology, archeology, history, agriculture, marine Sciences, merchant fleet, Navy, scuba diving, history of medicine, architecture, constructions, shipyards, sociopsychology, literature, education, research, and naţional minorities. November 14 is a naţional holiday observed as Dobrogea Day, and it has been celebrated as such since 2015. |
